Lisa Poore, MS, LPC, CPCS, Director

With over 30 years of experience, Lisa brings a distinctive level of expertise to counseling with her clients.  Whether it’s providing guidance to parents of difficult children or teaching depressed clients how to change their negative thinking and behavior, Lisa demonstrates compassion with her clients and understands her client’s issues.

Lisa’s many years of experience have made her competent in treating a variety of issues including depression, anxiety and panic disorder, ADHD, family of origin issues, grief and women’s issues.  She has expertise in treating bipolar disorder across the lifespan. She is well acquainted with the issues of those struggling with chronic pain and other health disorders such as fibromyalgia, MS, Crohn’s and other autoimmune disorders and migraine headaches. Lisa has been trained in biofeedback and is currently working on her BCIA certification to use biofeedback to treat migraines, chronic pain, stress, anxiety and other chronic health disorders.  Lisa also provides cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia. She has been trained in EMDR, a treatment specifically designed for trauma.

Lisa provides a unique therapy opportunity for clients struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She provides exposure therapy both inside and outside the office for those OCD clients who need therapy in a real world environment. Lisa’s expertise extends into the area of child and adolescent behavior issues. She guides parents through these challenges and teaches children how to overcome struggles in the areas of ADHD, depression, anxiety, anger and explosiveness, oppositional behavior and school problems including school phobias as well as academic struggles.

Lisa earned a Master of Science degree from Georgia State University and a diploma in Christian Counseling from the Psychological Studies Institute, now known as Richmont University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS). She is the founder and director of Paraclete Counseling Center, where she provides counseling services to her clients and supervises associate licensed therapists.

She has particular interest in seeing people change – not just learn to cope better. She walks alongside clients as she guides them to work on areas where they are stuck or believing lies that are limiting their ability to have an abundant life. She helps them take steps of spiritual growth so they might be transformed deep inside. Through this transformation process she helps clients learn to experience the love and power of God, which leads to true freedom.
